Jen Bagan is thrilled to be Co-Elf (with the amazing Katelyn Aronson) in the Character-Driven Fiction with Narrative Arcs section of the forum. Jen has been a 12×12 member since 2016. The knowledge she’s gained and the connections she’s made since joining have been invaluable for her and her writing journey. This business can be tough but having the 12×12 community to share with and learn from makes it so much easier.
Jen has always been passionate about writing, although her focus was initially on screenwriting (she even attended a weekend seminar with famed story consultant Robert McKee!) Though writing for children was never something Jen explored, she always had a deep love of children’s books – constantly adding to her collection well into adulthood. When Jen had her two beautiful children, she was immersed in their stories and her writing focus shifted to where it was always meant to be – picture books. Jen has spent the last several years learning everything she can about this craft (although there is always much more to learn!) She has amassed a stack of rejections but has also received many signs she is on the right track. After parting ways with her agent in the fall, Jen is still searching for that perfect partnership.
Jen lives on the beautiful seacoast of New Hampshire with her husband, two children and rescue pup.
